Summary:
The following is a  disciplinary finding made against this member by a non-Ontario Medical Regulatory Authority, as known to the College:

On December 20, 2021, the Hearing Tribunal of the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta made findings of unprofessional conduct against Dr. Efe Michael Ovueni, including contravention of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) Code of Ethics and Professionalism and conduct that harms the integrity of the regulated profession.  The conduct related to hugging and air-kissing a co-worker without her consent.  The hearing Tribunal ordered the following:  (a) that Dr. Ovueni be reprimanded;  (b) suspension of Dr. Ovueni’s practice permit for three months, with two weeks served and 2.5 months held in abeyance on the condition that no further boundary concerns are brought forward to the College and referred to an investigation for 5 years;  (c) that Dr. Ovueni complete and unconditionally pass the Center for Personalized Education for Physicians (CPEP) Probe Course within 12 months of the date of the Tribunals’ decision;  and (d) that Dr. Ovueni pay a fine of $3000  and all costs of the investigation and hearing.
