On January 26, 2024, the Ontario Physicians and Surgeons Discipline Tribunal found that Dr. McInnis committed the following acts of professional misconduct:

  • failing to maintain the standard of practice of the profession;
  • sexually abusing a patient; and
  • engaging in an act or omission relevant to the practice of medicine that, having regard to all the circumstances, would reasonably be regarded by registrants as disgraceful, dishonourable or unprofessional.

On March 20, 2024, the Tribunal ordered that:

  1. the registrant to be reprimanded in writing;
  2. the Registrar revoke the registrant’s certificate of registration effective March 21, 2024 at 12:01 a.m.;
  3. the registrant reimburse the College $ 35,880 for funding provided for therapy and counselling under s. 85.7 of the Health Professions Procedural Code, and to post security acceptable to the College to guarantee the payment of this amount; and
  4. the registrant pay the College costs in the amount of $177,920 by April 22, 2024.
