On April 20, 2022, Dr. Mulji was found guilty of assault under section 266 and uttering a threat to cause death under section 264.1(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada. In relation to these offences, on June 26, 2024, the Tribunal found that Dr. Mulji committed professional misconduct, having been found guilty of an offence relevant to his suitability to practise.

The Tribunal further found that Dr. Mulji’s conduct underlying the criminal charges and conviction were conduct unbecoming a physician and conduct that would be reasonably regarded by members as disgraceful, dishonourable or unprofessional.

The Tribunal ordered that:  
  1. Dr. Mulji attend before the panel to be reprimanded; 
  2. the Registrar suspend Dr. Mulji’s certificate of registration for eight (8) months commencing June 27, 2024 at 12:01 a.m.; 
  3. the Registrar place terms, conditions and limitations on Dr. Mulji’s certificate of registration; 
  4. Dr. Mulji pay the College costs in the amount of $6,000 by August 24, 2024.
