On January 28, 2026, the Ontario Physicians and Surgeons Discipline Tribunal found that Dr. Maharaj committed the following acts of professional misconduct:

  • failing to maintain the standard of practice of the profession;
  • engaging in an act or omission relevant to the practice of medicine that, having regard to all the circumstances, would reasonably be regarded by registrants as disgraceful, dishonourable or unprofessional;
  • contravening a term, condition or limitation on the registrant’s certificate of registration; and
  • contravening the Act, the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 or the regulations under either of those Acts.

The Tribunal further found the registrant incompetent.

On the same date, the Tribunal ordered that:

  1. the registrant attend before the panel to be reprimanded; 
  2. the Registrar revoke the registrant’s certificate of registration effective immediately; and
  3. the registrant pay the College costs in the amount of $6,000 by February 27, 2026.
